Consortium Libraries

CHANGES FOR FALL 2022

PLEASE NOTE:

NYU's Bobst Library has not reopened to Cooper affiliates yet, but we will update this page with new access information as soon as it is available.

updated 8/24/2022

Access to The Cooper Union Library

We are once again delighted to welcome back Cooper Union alum, Friends of The Cooper Union Library, and faculty and students from our consortium. Non-affiliated researchers are also welcome. Just contact us for access.

All visitors need to show a valid ID card and proof of vaccination with booster. You will be asked to sign in at the security desk and wear a CDC-recommended mask (disposable surgical, KN95, KF94, or N95) at all times. For the latest information on campus access, please review the Campus Guest Policy on Cooper's FAQ.

Access to New York University Libraries

The Bobst Library will be open to fully vaccinated and boosted Cooper Union students, faculty, and staff beginning in early September 2022.

Before you visit, please be sure to download the NYU Mobile app onto your mobile phone and complete the "Daily Screener." To complete the NYU Daily Screener:

  1. Select “No” on the question “Do you have a NYU NetID and password?"

  2. Enter your @cooper.edu email address when prompted.

  3. Fill out the other required information.

  4. Click "next" to submit. You should receive a notice of “Screener Status: Pass,” displayed on a green banner.

  5. Take a screenshot or open your email to re-access this green “Pass” screener.

At Bobst, show the guard your Cooper Union ID and the green “pass” screen at the Bobst Security Desk.
If you receive a red screen or you’re a message indicating you are not authorized, please contact The Cooper Union Library at library@cooper.edu, so we can troubleshoot the issue.

Access to The New School Libraries

The New School (TNS) Libraries and Archives are allowing Cooper Union students, faculty and staff members who meet vaccination and booster requirements on campus. Visitors to the Libraries must follow the University’s protocols:

Access to the New York School of Interior Design Library

For access to the NYSID Library, go to http://library.nysid.edu/library/, click on the ‘Email a Librarian’ link (under ‘Physical Hours’), and fill out the form. Currently, all visitors are required to submit their proofs of vaccination by email in advance, but booster shots are not required. All individuals are required to wear a well-fitted mask, such as the 3-ply surgical masks, KN95 masks or N95 masks. A cloth mask can only be worn over a surgical mask.

Access to the Cardozo School of Law Library

The Cardozo School of Law Library is currently open to visitors by invitation only.

Research Library Association of South Manhattan

The Research Library Association of South Manhattan (RLASM) is made up of research libraries that share an online catalog and offer physical access and reciprocal borrowing privileges to student and faculty affiliates.

RLASM includes the following libraries:

Cardozo School of Law Library

The Cooper Union Library and the Cardozo School of Law Library offer reciprocal physical access to our libraries for study space and onsite use of the collections. The Cardozo Law Library is closed to outside affiliates, including Cooper Union, for certain times of the academic year, so be sure to check the website for updates on access, as well as hours before going.

METRO Libraries

The Cooper Union Library is a member of the Metropolitan New York Council of Libraries and participates in their Library Referral Program

If Cooper Union students or faculty need a specific book, item, or collection from one of the member libraries, simply stop by the circulation desk at the Cooper Union Library to pick up a referral request form.

The host library will determine the period and length of time you may have access to an item or collection. This service does not give users unlimited access to a library’s materials and does not guarantee they will be available at a given time. In most cases, access is limited to the specific item or subject.

For more info or questions about METRO's referral service, you can contact us or METRO at info@metro.org, or (212) 228-2320 ext 7100.
