Biographical/Historical Note:

Edward C. Mack wrote the biography, “Peter Cooper: Citizen of New York,” published in 1949 by Duell, Sloan & Pearce.  Mack’s other works include a biography of Thomas Hughes and a book on the public school in Britain.

The Mack papers include a preliminary biographical sketch of Peter Cooper and correspondence with Edward Ringwood Hewitt.
